• SLR International hired Simon Mawson PE as a principal engineer, Tim Plucinski as an environmental scientist, Eppie Hogan as a project manager, Christina Bentz as a project geologist and Erin Donmoyer as an environmental scientist.

Mawson has 26 years of Alaska experience in environmental consulting and has a Bachelor of Science in biology from Alaska Methodist University and a Master of Science in environmental engineering from Washington State University. He will be taking a lead role with a variety of compliance and permitting projects.

Plucinski has 10 years of professional experience in Alaska and a Master of Science in environmental science from Alaska Pacific University. He will be assisting on a variety of geoscience projects statewide.

Hogan has 13 years of Alaska experience in environmental consulting and has a Bachelor of Science in environmental science from the College of William and Mary and a Master of Science in environmental quality science from the University of Alaska Anchorage. She provides compliance and permitting support for major oil and gas projects statewide.

Bentz has three years of Alaska experience in environmental consulting and has a Bachelor of Science in geosciences from Pacific Lutheran University and a Master of Science in geology from the University of Michigan. She will assist on geoscience projects for private and public clients statewide.

Donmoyer has a Bachelor of Science in environmental science and marine biology from Alaska Pacific University and will be working on a variety of permitting and compliance projects in Alaska.

• Pairmore Chiropractic wellness coach Shanna Vetter completed a specialized training program at the world headquarters for Creating Wellness in New Jersey. Vetter learned the latest breakthroughs in wellness science and how to perform advanced wellness assessment. The highly specialized training focused on technology that assesses an individual's state of wellness in the three dimensions of health: physical, biochemical and emotional.

• The Anchorage Public Library hired Laura Baldwin as the collection development coordinator. A native of Pittsburgh, Baldwin spent 15 years in the private sector after receiving a Bachelor of Science in business from Indiana University, Bloomington. After earning a Master of Library and Information Sciences from the University of Pittsburgh, Baldwin spent eight years at Ocean County Library, New Jersey.

• William A. Corbus, a longtime Juneau businessman, will join the Alaska Pacific Bancshares board of directors in January, according to president and CEO Craig E. Dahl. Corbus filled the position vacated by Deborah Marshall, who retired from the board after serving for 17 years.

Corbus brings more than 25 years of Alaska banking board experience to the Alaska Pacific board. In the past, he served as a member of the board of directors for B.M. Behrends Bank in Juneau, Key Bank of Alaska, and First National Bank of Anchorage. He served as trustee for the Alaska Permanent Fund Corp. from 2002 to 2006, as a trustee for the Alaska Retirement Management Board for 10 years, and as a director for the Alaska Power & Telephone Co. for four years. He has also held a variety of civic positions in Juneau.

Corbus was named president and director of the Alaska Energy & Resources Co. in April -- a position he also held from 1988 to 2002. AERC is the parent of Alaska Electric Light and Power Co., and Corbus holds the position of chairman and director of that company -- a position he also held from 1978 to 1988 and again from 1997 to 2002. He served as commissioner of the Alaska Department of Revenue from December 2002 to December 2006.

• Wells Fargo Insurance Services of Alaska named Tara Koloski as an account executive specializing in personal and small business insurance brokerage services. Koloski has six years of insurance brokerage experience, and she is licensed to offer property, casualty, life and health insurance. She earned a certified insurance service representative designation in 2005.

• Rim Architects announced that David Ziemer became licensed as a professional architect in Alaska. Ziemer has more than seven years of architectural experience and a Masters of Architecture degree from the University of Michigan. He has worked on projects for the National Park Service, Federal Aviation Administration Association and Forest Service. Ziemer has had heavy involvement in managing and designing these projects from schematic design through construction administration.

• The Growth Co. announced the addition of Cindy Franklin, juris doctor, as senior associate. She earned her law degree from Baylor University in 1989 and is licensed to practice law in Alaska, Colorado and Texas. Franklin earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Oklahoma in 1986.

Franklin's extensive litigation experience serves her well in facilitation and mediation settings. In addition to assuming management and training duties in the law firms where she has worked, Franklin has conducted numerous trainings of statewide attorney groups, law enforcement groups and various businesses. Franklin is a veteran presenter and interviewer.

• Several attorneys with the law firm of Atkinson, Conway & Gagnon Inc. were listed in Alaska Super Lawyers 2007, a publication of Washington Law & Politics magazine.

Bruce E. Gagnon was selected as one of the Top 10 Alaska Super Lawyers. Gagnon has practiced law with the firm since 1970. He received a J.D. degree from Harvard University in 1967, where he was an editor of the Harvard Law Review. Before coming to Alaska, Gagnon was an assistant professor of law at Vanderbilt Law School. Gagnon is recognized as a leading attorney in Alaska on business transactions and commercial litigation. He was the first attorney in Alaska to be elected to the prestigious American Law Institute.

Robert J. Dickson was selected in the category of general litigation. Dickson has practiced law for 35 years in the areas of construction litigation and health care law, including medical malpractice defense. He is also the co-author of "Alaska Construction Law," author of the Alaska chapter in "Sourcebook on State Public Construction Law" (CCH 2002), and of numerous other publications on Alaska construction law. In addition to owners, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, sureties, title companies, banks and hospitals, Dickson has represented national and international design and engineering firms on a variety of claims including engineering malpractice defense, as well as contract disputes.

W. Michael Moody was selected in the category of personal injury. Moody received his law degree from the University of Arizona in 1972 where he served as editor-in-chief of the Law Review and received the academic award of Order of the Coif. He served as a law clerk to Judges Thomas Stewart and Victor Carlson in Juneau before moving to Anchorage. Moody has practiced law in Alaska since 1975, specializing in representing those injured by negligence or defective products, and claims against insurance companies for fraud and bad-faith conduct against their policyholders.

Richard E. Vollertsen was selected in the category of personal injury. Vollertsen has been a member of the Atkinson, Conway & Gagnon law firm since 1982. His practice includes complex litigation primarily involving product liability, wrongful death and personal injury. He served as law clerk to Chief Justice Edmund Burke of the Alaska Supreme Court. Vollertsen was also editor-in-chief of University of San Francisco Law Review, 1980-81, and contributing editor to Alaska Court Review, 1983-2000.

Jerome H. Juday was selected in the category of business/corporate. Juday has been an Alaska bar member since 1982. He has served on the Alaska Bar Association's Rules of Professional Conduct Committee since 1996, acting as chairman of that committee since 2002. Juday's practice emphasizes real-estate law, commercial transactions and business litigation.

Gagnon, Dickson, Moody and Vollertsen are also all AV rated by Martindale Hubbell, the highest national rating for legal ability and ethics and have been listed in the Best Lawyers in America for more than 10 years.
